Where The Heart Is" is an experimental documentary that explores the multifaceted experiences of eight young people from underrepresented backgrounds in their journey exploring the complexity of identity, family and sense of belonging. Focused on the theme of 'home', the film captures intimate conversations with the cast using crafted prompts. These prompts explore the significance of colours, objects or places in shaping their perceptions of home.
'Where the Heart Is' was awarded Official Selection for the Catalyst International Film Festival 2024 and the Lasta Film Festival 2024.
Fatoumata participated in the Wideshot programme of Gorm Media. During her residency, she served as the creative director of her first film, 'Where the Heart Is'
"Where The Heart Is" celebrates our individualities while uncovering universal threads that connect us all but also prompts audiences to reflect on their own connections to home and identity.
